Seedfolks

By: Nicole Barnett and Sierra McKinzie

What does a community garden in a book have anything to do with our OMS garden?

Well, it does in many ways. It brought people who normally don't talk together. Another reason is both gardens made people work and get along better. Plus, the people realize even though we're all different we are still just people with feelings, emotions, and a past. Finally, we can all find at least one thing we like together, or have in common.

When the crops were ready to harvest everyone was happy and helpful. In both the book and our garden, we all learned new things about each other; for example, which foods some people like and don't like.

Sir Francis Bacon once said, "God Almighty first planted a garden." The novel "Seedfolks" by Paul Fleischman is about a junk-filled, rat-ran vacant lot in Cleveland that was transformed into "Eden" an edible paradise. In our school garden, we transformed an empty grass filled terrace into a green veggie garden that the students enjoy.

Cinderella vs Cinderella Skeleton

Compare and Contrast of the books Cinderella and Cinderella Skeleton
By: Kailee Ramsey and Rachel Schenker

Cinderella and Cinderella Skeleton are narrative fairy tales. They both have ugly stepsisters and an evil stepmother. They were both treated badly. The two Cinderellas sneak out and and go to a ball. The Prince falls in love with both of them. The spells wore off during each of the balls. Both characters get married to a prince and lived happily ever after.

Cinderella Skeleton lived in Boneyard Acres, third mausoleum on the right. While Cinderella lived in a faraway kingdom. Cinderella was gorgeous and cleaned the house, but Cinderella Skeleton was hideous and made the house dirty. Cinderella had glass slippers, and Cinderella Skeleton had satin rose slippers. Cinderella rode to the ball in a carriage. Cinderella Skeleton rode to the Halloween Ball in a funeral wagon. In Cinderella, the Prince's Grand Duke searched for the owner of the glass slipper. In Cinderella Skeleton, the Prince searched for the owner of the satin rose slipper. Cinderella Skeleton had a good witch instead of a fairy godmother like in the story Cinderella.
